Virginia Tech Eliminates 200 Jobs, Citing State Budget Cuts
In response to state budget cuts, Virginia Tech announced this week that it plans to eliminate more than 200 faculty, staff, administrative, and graduate teaching positions next year.
Charles W. Steger, the university's president, sent a letter to people on the campus on Wednesday that spelled out how the institution will handle a 13-percent, or $25-million, cut in the operating funds that state lawmakers have given it for the 2002-3
