Virginia Starts Major Technology Center
Despite budget troubles, Virginia has come up with the money to begin construction of an $18-million academic-technology center that officials hope will spur economic development in the southern part of the state.
The new Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, being built in Danville, will be jointly run by Averett University, Danville Community College, and Virginia Tech (http://www.ialr.vt.edu).
The three institutions plan to offer joint degree programs in technology
