Virginia Lawmakers Block Ex-Governor's Nominees

Virginia's General Assembly, at odds with former Gov. James S. Gilmore during much of last year, got in one last dig after he left office in January by blocking some of his nominees to governing boards at colleges.

Five of the former governor's nominees to the governing boards of Christopher Newport University, the College of William and Mary, and Old Dominion University were blocked this month. Those nominees will be replaced by people recommended by the Governor's Advisory Commission
