A state judge in Virginia dismissed two lawsuits on Tuesday that had sought to challenge Randolph-Macon Woman’s College over its controversial decision last fall to open its doors to male students, the Associated Press reported. That decision, which followed similar moves by a number of other women’s colleges also facing financial pressures, drew heated protests from some students and alumni. A lawyer for the plaintiffs in the case told the AP that he was considering an appeal. The college, which will change its name to Randolph College in July, will admit its first men this fall.
