Victim of Fatal Shooting in Harvard Dorm Was Student at Another College
A 21-year-old man who was shot on Monday in a Harvard University dormitory and later died was identified today as a student at Salem State College, according to The Boston Globe. The student, Justin Cosby, a resident of Cambridge, Mass., was shot once by unknown assailants in the entrance of Kirkland House. Mr. Cosby’s mother told the Globe that she did not know why he had been the target of an attack or what he was doing in a Harvard dormitory, which requires a key card for entry.
The authorities have not disclosed what they know about the shooting, and were seeking witnesses to the attack, the Globe reported. According to The Harvard Crimson, residents of the dormitory were notified by e-mail within about a half-hour of the shooting, and all Harvard students who had signed up for such alerts were sent a text message minutes later. —Andrew Mytelka
