Vials of Bubonic Plague Are Reported Missing, Then Found, at Texas Tech U.
Federal agents spent Wednesday searching for several dozen vials of bubonic-plague bacteria that had been reported missing the day before from a laboratory at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. By day's end, police officials had arrested the scientist who had reportedthe vials missing, saying he may have destroyed the vials before reporting them missing, accordingto news reports.
