Varmus Will Leave NIH to Head Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Ending months of speculation, Harold E. Varmus said last week that he would step down as director of the National Institutes of Health at the end of the year to become president of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, in New York.
