Utah Lawmakers Kill Campus Gun Ban
The Utah Legislature overwhelmingly passed a bill last week designed to remove the University of Utah's ban on firearms.
The bill, S.B. 48, would forbid local entities from restricting gun use or ownership by individuals. State Sen. Michael G. Waddoups, a Salt Lake City Republican, sponsored the bill. The university violates state law, he says, because only the Legislature can regulate firearms.
