Not content to bust students for over-the-top parties on its own campus, the University of California at Santa Cruz is providing the local police with $25,000 to bolster an official crackdown on off-campus parties as well, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported today. The move was in response to local residents’ complaints about raucous parties thrown by students in off-campus housing, where about half of the enrollment lives.
