A gunman who killed 30 people and himself at Virginia Tech on Monday was a student, the university’s president told CNN in an interview this morning. The president, Charles W. Steger, said only that the killer was “an Asian male who was a resident in one of our dormitories.” Mr. Steger provided no further details, and he said he was not certain whether this gunman was the same person who earlier on Monday killed two other people on the campus. But he said he did not think there was another killer still at large. —Andrew Mytelka
