Universities' Conflict-of-Interest Policies Are Doomed to Fail, Scholar Says

Anyone who has read a scientific paper lately has seen the statements: notes from investigators revealing or denying any financial ties to whatever they are studying. Surprisingly, these revelations, which scientists also give to research-oversight committees, may do little to prevent slanted research — and may even make it more biased.
