Universities Back Some Cloning
The Association of American Universities issued a statement last week supporting the use of cloning technologies for stem-cell research, a position opposed by President Bush and many in Congress.
But the group announced its support of legislation barring any use of cloning to create a human child.
The association, a coalition of 63 leading research institutions in the United States and Canada, is typically a strong voice for federal spending on scientific studies.
