Understanding the Evolution of Human Behavior

As a confessed evolutionist, I thought Nora S. Newcombe's "Is Sociobiology Ready for Prime Time?" (The Review, December 13) was better than most critiques of sociobiology. However, I would disagree that the standard social-science model has been abandoned and that "sociobiology seems, in fact, already to constitute the new standard paradigm." Environmentalism still predominates. Few courses on sociobiology, evolutionary psychology, or ethology are offered. ...
