Undergraduates as Researchers

Marc Zimmer argues that pursuing modest projects at the edges of mainstream science can be an effective way to involve undergraduates in research ("Guerrilla Puzzling: a Model for Research", The Chronicle Review, February 16). Zimmer makes many good points, but sometimes undergraduates can participate in a more direct, frontal assault on research problems.
