Under Fire From Students and Professors, President of Connecticut College Quits

Connecticut College's president, Claire L. Gaudiani, who has recently faced criticism from professors and students over questions about budget shortfalls, said this month that she will step down in June, at the end of a sabbatical.

The continuation of her presidency had been the subject of much speculation on the campus since May, when 78 of Connecticut's 105 tenured professors signed a petition calling for her resignation. Reports had circulated on the
