Uganda Cracks Down on Substandard U.'s
Ugandan higher-education officials have shut down a university that they said failed to meet minimum standards for higher education, and have ordered three others to make improvements or to close.
The National Council for Higher Education, which monitors and accredits universities in Uganda, last month revoked the license of Namasagali University and barred its officials from advertising as a university. Its 611 students were advised to transfer to other institutions.
