U.S. Panel Offers Plan to Accredit Institutions That Perform Research on Humans
A panel at the Institute of Medicine has endorsed proposed standards for accrediting institutions that conduct research on human subjects, saying that the guidelines would nicely supplement protections provided by government regulations. But critics worried that the endorsed approach would not be relevant to much of the research conducted at universities.
