U.S. Panel Hears Pleas From College Presidents for More Student Aid
College presidents and students last week urged a federal advisory panel on higher education to recommend an increase in federal student aid and to reject one-size-fits-all accountability measures.
The comments came during a public hearing held here by five members of the secretary of education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education. Nine presidents and chancellors of colleges and universities and dozens of students described the difficulties needy students face in pursuing
