U.S. Labor Department Investigates Hiring of Women at Stanford U.
The U.S. Department of Labor is investigating whether Stanford University has violated federal affirmative-action law by not maintaining a plan for hiring and promoting more female faculty members.
The department is investigating a complaint from 15 current and former female professors. The women claim they were either unfairly denied tenure or promotions, or were wrongfully terminated because of their gender.
