U.S. Flags Are Lowered in Memory of Shooting Victims

President Bush has ordered that American flags be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sunday “throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions” in memory of the students and faculty members killed in the shootings at Virginia Tech.

“Our nation grieves with those who have lost loved ones at Virginia Tech,” Mr. Bush said in a proclamation.

Mr. Bush and his wife, Laura, plan to attend this afternoon’s convocation on the university’s campus.
