U.S. Backs the Development of Dozens of Internet-Based Courses

The University of Colorado at Denver is performing an experiment with chemistry labs. But this doesn't involve mixing two chemicals together: The laboratories themselves are the experiment.

With a federal distance-education grant, university officials are developing an introductory-chemistry laboratory course -- delivered via the Internet -- in which students will conduct experiments in their own kitchens, using household chemicals.
