U.S. Appeals Court Backs Former Coach in Pay Dispute at Malcolm X College
A federal appeals court has overturned a verdict in favor of a former athletics director at Malcolm X College, finding that he promised a basketball coach compensation for preseason work and then refused to pay the coach. In its ruling, though, the appeals court declined to review a lower court's finding that the coach, who is white, did not have a valid racial-discrimination claim against the City Colleges of Chicago, of which Malcolm X is a part.
