U.S. Agency Recommends Meningitis Vaccines
All college freshmen who will be living in dormitories should receive meningitis vaccines, recommends the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The recommendation, approved this month, goes beyond the agency's five-year-old policy suggesting that colleges inform students about meningitis and how to obtain the vaccine. One impetus for the change was the Food and Drug Administration's approval last month of a new vaccine that
