UN Joins MIT Effort to Give Low-Cost Laptops to Schoolchildren
The United Nations has joined an effort backed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to build $100 laptops and give them to schoolchildren around the world.
The United Nations Development Programme has signed an agreement with a nonprofit organization called One Laptop per Child that is coordinating the development of the laptops, which run on batteries that can be recharged by a hand crank.
