UMass at Lowell Ends Suit Against Alumni

The University of Massachusetts at Lowell has dropped a trademark-infringement complaint against its own alumni association, in return for that group's promise to explicitly declare in its fund raising that it is not a part of the university.

Under the terms of the settlement, the alumni association will now be known as the Independent University Alumni Association at Lowell, and it will put disclaimers on its Web site, in its newsletter, and on its stationery stating that it is not
