UMass Foreign Graduate Students Protest New Fee
Some international graduate students are not paying their entire bill at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, to protest a new fee the university has levied against foreign students.
As part of widespread budget cuts at the university, officials created the fee to cover some costs of the international-programs office, including those associated with the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, or Sevis, a federal database used to track foreign students.
