In a sign of growing discontent with proposed governance changes at the University of Massachusetts, faculty leaders on the system’s Boston campus have scheduled a vote on Tuesday on the leadership of the system’s president, Jack M. Wilson, The Boston Globe reported. The vote will come just days after faculty members at the flagship, in Amherst, signaled their “lack of confidence” in Mr. Wilson and the system’s Board of Trustees.
Boston faculty members see Mr. Wilson’s plans to consolidate the leadership of the five campuses as a threat to their institution’s independence and urban mission. They will also consider a measure calling for an investigation into whether discussions of the plan by Mr. Wilson and the trustees violated the state’s open-meetings law. —Charles Huckabee
