U. of Virginia Sees Drop in Black Applicants
The number of black students seeking admission to the University of Virginia this year has fallen by more than 25 percent, in the wake of debates over affirmative action that have embroiled the campus during the past year.
Overall undergraduate applications to the university decreased by 16 percent. A total of 14,298 would-be freshmen sought admission, compared with 17,090 last year.
