U. of Virginia Announces New Student-Aid Policy
The University of Virginia announced a new student-aid policy this month under which it will replace loans with grants for some needy undergraduates and limit the amount of loans that students from middle-income families can accumulate by also increasing grants for them.
The plan's provisions for low-income students represent a strategy similar to those adopted recently by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and several private institutions, such as Princeton University.
