U. of Texas Financial-Aid Office Took Gifts From Lenders, Student Journalists Report
Student journalists at the University of Texas at Austin have dug up evidence that the institution's financial-aid office took gifts from student-loan companies into account in deciding which lenders to recommend to students.
The financial-aid office kept a list of "the number of lunches, breakfasts, and extracurricular functions" provided its staff by loan companies, according to internal documents and e-mail messages obtained by the university's student newspaper, The Daily Texan,
