U. of Saskatchewan Fires Tenured Professor Accused of Maligning Colleagues on RateMyProfessors Web Site

The University of Saskatchewan has fired a tenured professor after determining that he had anonymously posted disparaging messages about fellow faculty members on the RateMyProfessors Web site.

Stephen Berman was a math professor at the university for more than 30 years. An independent arbitration panel found that he maligned colleagues in postings to the Web site over a seven-month period during 2002 and 2003. The site is designed for students to share their views of professors with
