U. of Pittsburgh to Offer Benefits to Employees' Same-Sex Partners
The chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh announced last week that the institution had dropped its decade-long opposition to offering health benefits to the partners of gay employees, and would begin providing such benefits in January.
The university had been fighting attempts by employees to force it to offer domestic-partner benefits -- including a legal complaint -- since 1994.
