U. of Oregon Foundation Will Repay $850,000 Donation From Embattled Financier
The University of Oregon Foundation is returning a donor's $850,000 gift and removing his name from a building after he was accused of covering up bad loans and other losses at his investment firm.
Jeffrey Grayson, who had been co-chairman of the university's fund-raising campaign, has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of mail fraud, money laundering, conspiracy, and witness tampering.
He and his wife, Susan, pledged $1.5-million to the foundation in 1997, making an $850,000
