U. of Missouri Disavows Any Use of Patent to Clone Humans
The University of Missouri at Columbia found itself drawn into the debate over cloning this month, after a watchdog group announced that it had discovered that the university held a patent that could apply to the cloning of humans.
University officials quickly issued a series of statements intended to make clear that the chief researcher behind the patent, Randall S. Prather, had "absolutely no intent to use the technology on humans," and neither did the institution.
