U. of Michigan Strikes a Deal With Teaching Assistants

Negotiators for the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and its teaching assistants' union settled on a three-year contract last week, averting an imminent strike.

Members of the Graduate Employees Organization, an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, held a one-day walkout earlier this month and had threatened to strike indefinitely. The previous contract expired in February.
