U. of Michigan Asks Athletes to Pledge Good Conduct on Social-Networking Sites
The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor has asked all its varsity athletes to sign a statement pledging good conduct on social-networking Web sites like Facebook and MySpace.
The policy, which went into effect on August 1, states that athletes must maintain a "high standard of honor and dignity" reflective of the university's athletics program when posting on such sites, and that any behavior on the sites that violates university or team rules could result in "team suspension,
