The governing board of the University of Mary Washington has appointed an acting president to stand in for William J. Frawley, who was placed on paid leave on April 12 after being arrested for two incidents of drunken driving.
The acting president, Richard V. Hurley, will keep his position as vice president for administration, finance, and legislative affairs, according to a statement on the university’s Web site.
In a statement on the same site published on April 18, Mr. Frawley stressed that the driving incidents were “highly unusual and totally out of character for me.”
