U. of Idaho Says It Will Junk All Junk Mail

The University of Idaho will no longer distribute junk mail on its campus, the university announced today, in order to help curb waste.

Starting next year, the university said, all bulk mail, including unwanted catalogs, credit-card solicitations, and sales ads, will be recycled immediately. The university will notify major junk-mail distributors to stop sending material to the campus.

The university will also offer departments an opt-out registry, if they wish to continue sending fliers and other such mail in bulk on the campus, but electronic mail will be encouraged. —Mary Andom
