U. of Georgia Economist Finishes Stint at N.Y. Stock Exchange

Mark Lipson is a finance professor, but he felt like an anthropologist during his stint as a visiting economist at the New York Stock Exchange.

Last week, Mr. Lipson finished a year in the stock exchange's Visiting Scholars Program. The University of Georgia economist used the opportunity to study the life styles of the traders, observing their rites and rituals amid the clamor on the trading floor.
