U. of Colo. to Grant Automatic Admission
The University of Colorado System plans to guarantee admission to its three campuses to high-school students in the state who graduate in the top 10 percent of their class, according to a proposal negotiated over the past several months.
But the university system hopes to avoid the pitfalls encountered by other states that have instituted similar "percent plans," including California, Florida, and Texas, by making class rank only one avenue to automatic admission.
