U. of California to Resume Taking Employee Pension Payments, Sparking Protests

Employees of the University of California will begin con tributing to the system's pension plan again in July 2007. The amount of the paycheck deductions, which the university's Board of Regents recently determined to be necessary, is still under debate, but the decision to reinstate them sparked staff protests on all of the system's campuses late last month.
