U. of California Will Pay $22.5-Million to U.S. in Medicare Dispute
The University of California has agreed to repay the federal government $22.5-million that federal officials said had been improperly billed by five of its medical schools between 1994 and 1998.
The settlement, announced last month, resolved a case that started in 1996 when two employees blew the whistle on the university's allegedly improper billings. They sued the university, charging that care at five of the system's medical schools -- at Davis, Irvine, Los
