U. of California Settles Patent War With Microsoft
An eight-year conflict between the University of California and the Microsoft Corporation over the patent rights to a lucrative Web-browsing technology has been settled out of court. Neither side revealed the terms of their agreement.
The fight concerns who discovered a method for launching and displaying software plug-ins from Web browsers. The university owns the patent on the technology, which it licenses to Eolas Technologies.
Courts and the U.S. patent office have gone back
