U. of California Settles Cadaver Case
The University of California system has agreed to pay $455,000 to settle one of several lawsuits concerning the misuse of donated cadavers by the willed-body program at the system's Irvine campus.
The case was brought by the family of Joseph Coghill, whose body was donated to the University of California at Irvine for research in 1999. The program usually cremated bodies after they were used for research and scattered the ashes in the ocean at Newport Beach. Mr. Coghill's relatives had
