U. of California Report Cites Better Security at Weapons Labs

Managers of the nuclear-weapons laboratories run by the University of California developed "a complacent attitude" toward protecting classified information, but now are improving security, according to a report this month by a review committee.

The labs have been under pressure from the Clinton Administration and Congress because of allegations this year that China acquired classified information on nuclear bombs from Los Alamos National Laboratory. The
