The University of Arkansas’s Clinton School of Public Service is among the many recipients of donations from Norman Hsu that is now returning the money to the controversial fund raiser for Democratic politicians, The Wall Street Journal reported today.

The donation, $75,000 out of a $100,000 pledge, was intended to support a graduate program for students planning careers in international aid, law, politics, or philanthropy. The university decided to return the money after concluding that the size of the gift did not warrant the bad publicity of being associated with Mr. Hsu, the Journal said.

The school is located on the grounds of former President Bill Clinton’s presidential library, in Little Rock, Ark., but is part of the university system.

The biggest beneficiary of Mr. Hsu’s largess was Mr. Clinton’s wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. She refunded the $850,000 that Mr. Hsu raised on behalf of her presidential campaign after it emerged that he had a history of financial fraud and skipping court appearances (see today’s New York Times for details). —Andrew Mytelka
