U. of Arkansas Matches Walton Gift, the Largest Ever to a Public Institution

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has matched its $300-million donation from the Walton Family Foundation, officials announced last week.

The Walton gift is the largest ever given to a public institution. The donation was given in cash in 2002, with the stipulation that the university match it by June 2005. The $300-million and the matching funds have been designated by the foundation for the graduate school and for endowing an undergraduate honors college.
