Turkmenistan to Invalidate Foreign Diplomas Issued Since 1993
Holders of foreign degrees in Turkmenistan will soon find that their diplomas are not only worthless but even detrimental to their careers.
A presidential decree effective June 1 invalidates diplomas issued by foreign universities since 1993 and prohibits their holders from working in the public sector. Those with such degrees who are currently employed by the state will be fired, according to the order of Saparmurat Niyazov, the president.
