Tuition-Discount Rate Holds Steady
The average tuition-discount rate for the fall of 2005 was roughly the same at private colleges as it was two years earlier, according to a survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
Tuition discounting is the difference between what students are actually paying to attend an institution and its sticker price. The difference is made up by institutional grants.
The discount rate for full-time freshmen in 2005 was 38.6 percent, compared with
