Truth in Advertising: Furman University's Local Produce
While sustainability efforts are well intentioned, the results — particularly in the short term — do not always match the rhetoric.
The claim: The Aramark Corporation, the university's food-services provider, will use fresh, local produce — from 26 small farms, all within a 150-mile radius of Furman's Greenville, S.C., campus. "The menus will be altered throughout the school year to accommodate what is in season locally," according to Furman's Web
